IPTeL Tracking ID: MPS-PHY-2016-038

The subject matter of invention is strain/pressure sensor which are fabricated using an extremely simple and cost effective method. The strain sensors formed using taped crumpled reduced graphene oxide has ultra-high gauge factor. It can find applications in functioning of automate systems, healthcare monitoring, prosthetics etc.

BACKGROUND

The available pressure sensors are designed using complex strategies to achieve ultra-low strains at high gauge factor. There is requirement for pressure sensors which can be fabricated using simple and cost-effective process without compromising the characteristics of sensing.

TECHNOLOGY

The invention provides a mechanically robust strain/pressure sensor made of chemicallyreduced graphene oxide which has ultra-high gauge factor.

Key features of the invention:

  • Ultra high sensitivity
  • Measurement of wide range of pressure
  • Detection of low strain at high gauge pressure
  • Slight modification enables operation of device under water to measure water pressure
  • Extremely robust and can be used in harsh conditions
